Musik Theater Linz

Johannes Boehner's involvement in Musiktheater Linz marked the inception of a fruitful partnership with Wolfgang Gumilar, who served as the Prokurist at OÖ Theater und Orchester GmbH. Gumilar's extensive responsibilities encompassed financial and IT management, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and the development of ticketing systems and online platforms. His role also involved overseeing a significant volume of operations, including numerous productions and ticket sales annually.

Boehner, in his capacity as the Technical Director for Stage and Event Technologies and as a theatre consultant during construction, collaborated closely with Gumilar. Together, they navigated the intricate landscape of theater management, integrating technical expertise with financial acumen to ensure the success of Musictheatre Linz. This collaboration laid the foundation for a successful working relationship between Boehner and Gumilar, which proved instrumental in shaping the theater's trajectory.

The bond forged between Boehner and Gumilar has transcended their initial collaboration, extending into Red Carpet Engineering. This ongoing partnership underscores their shared commitment to excellence in both technical and managerial realms.

Ethiopian National Theater Project

Red Carpet Engineering, oversaw the specifications of the New National Theater (formerly the Haile Selassie I Theatre). Our responsibilities included creating detailed documents like Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and Requests for Proposals (RFP), as well as initial drawings for stage engineering and theater technology. The construction site, located on a 7,000 square meter plot in Beherawi, is managed by Ovid Construction, with supervision from Addis Mebratu Consulting Architects & Engineers.

The new theater features a flexible stage extending up to eight meters, a modern cinema seating 1,500 people, and a museum. Despite initial delays, progress is underway, with preservation plans for the existing cinema building. The National Theater, established in 1956 and employing 315 individuals, is a significant institution under the Ministry of Culture & Tourism. Once completed, the new National Theater will enrich the cultural landscape of the capital city, joining historic venues like the Hager Fikir Theater, dating back to 1935.

"Zukunft Oper" Opera House Zürich

The historic Zurich Opera House and its adjacent extension building are scheduled for renovation in the first half of the 2030s, with detailed planning commencing now. The goal is to address fundamental deficiencies to ensure the Opera House can continue fulfilling its mandate as enshrined in the Opera House Act. This includes striving for "outstanding quality and international appeal of artistic performance" as well as "broad dissemination of its offerings among the general population."

Red Carpet Engineering is providing consultancy services to guide the new construction of the extension building and the renovation of the historic Fellner and Helmer structure. With our expertise in theater technology, backstage and front of house operations, we are contributing to the success of this project.

"Neue Bühnen Frankfurt"

An opera house and a theater for the 21st century will be built.

The buildings must be sustainable, meaning energy-efficient, resource-conserving, climate-friendly, and architecturally forward-thinking.

The new buildings will be technically and functionally optimized and will serve as workplaces for approximately 1,200 employees of the Municipal Stages, as well as meeting places for millions of people. They will provide art with a perspective-rich framework for future developments.

The new building for the Frankfurt Opera is planned for Willy-Brandt-Platz.

The plans envision a series of cultural institutions along the Wallanlagen, like a string of pearls, starting with the Jewish Museum Frankfurt, followed by the Frankfurt Opera, the Komödie, the English Theatre, the MMK Tower, the branch of the World Culture Museum, and finally the Alte Oper Frankfurt.

The plans for this culture mile foresee that the theater will be built by the city of Frankfurt on a plot of approximately 5,500 square meters on Neue Mainzer Straße.

The new theater will be centrally located in this urban innovative area, home to various cultural attractions.

This high-quality cultural use will breathe new life into the city center, transforming the office-dominated banking district into a forward-looking, vibrant, and attractive downtown area with more green spaces.

The overall project "Future of the Municipal Stages" consists of several sub-projects, such as new buildings for the storage center, replacement and temporary performance venues, and of course, the opera and theater.

Several temporary buildings must also be created for the time between demolition and new construction. These will be needed for at least one performance venue and the workshops. During the construction phase, these temporary buildings must maintain the performance and stage operations.

We support and advise the "Future of the Municipal Stages" office, as well as the users, in their important and significant steps towards successful competition procedures and the start of planning and realization.
